According to a statement issued by the MQM Rabita (coordination) Committee, Haq, 41, was a worker of Landhi Town, Unit 81. The statement said that Haq had been picked up by the Rangers from his residence in Landhi No 3, on May 19 last year, adding that he was never produced in any court of law.
A petition about his enforced disappearance has been filed in the Sindh High Court by his family, said the statement. Haq's body was found in the vicinity of Surjani Town police station on June 30 and has been identified by the National Database and Registration Authority.
The Rabita Committee stated that his death is being termed a police encounter to mislead the public. Moreover, the committee said in its statement, no law enforcement personnel or agency is being held responsible for this extrajudicial murder and blatant violation of human rights.
The paramilitary force has yet to confirm this incident.
