Kurdish militant car bomb attack wounds 11 soldiers in southeast Turkey

According to security sources attack targeted the Cevizpinar village outpost, near the border with Syria

DIYARBAKIR: Kurdish militants carried out a car bomb attack on a military outpost in southeast Turkey and then opened fire on the facility on Saturday, wounding 11 soldiers, security sources said.

They said the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militant attack targeted the Cevizpinar village outpost in Mardin province, near the border with Syria, around 1 p.m. (1000 GMT).



Earlier on July 5, at least five people were killed after a Turkish military helicopter crashed Tuesday in the northeastern province of Giresun, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said.

 

CNN-Turk reported that the Sikorsky S-70 crashed in bad weather at around 1430 GMT in Alucra, a mountainous area of Giresun, which lies on the Black Sea.
