Trump tweets 'Frozen' colouring book to defend 'anti-semetic' tweet

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump took to Twitter to share an image of Disney's Frozen colouring book with a star on its cover, comparing it to an image he shared earlier of Hillary Clinton that was criticised as being anti-Semitic.

"Where is the outrage for this Disney book? Is this the 'Star of David' also? Dishonest media! #Frozen," he tweeted.

Not long after, Clinton followed Trump’s tweet with a line from the film’s song “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” replacing 'snowman' with 'strawman'.

Two hours after his initial tweet, Trump tweeted a similar image in which the six-pointed Star of David - which appears on Israel's flag and which Jews were forced to wear on their clothing by the Nazis during the Holocaust - was replaced by a circle. The original tweet was deleted.

Critics said the image featuring the star dates back to centuries-old anti-Semitic stereotypes, such as the belief that Jews are greedy.

In a tweet on Monday, he said he had not meant the six-pointed star to refer to the Star of David. Rather, he said, the star could have referred to a sheriff's badge, which is shaped similarly except for small circles at the ends of each of its six points, or a "plain star."
