While you might be too afraid to visit Lyari, BBC journalist Benjamin Zand wasn’t.

When Zand visited Karachi earlier this year, everyone told him to avoid Lyari, the city’s “most dangerous” neighbourhood. However, a picture Zand shared on his Facebook page shows he not only visited the area, he had a great time too.

These kids from Lyari will put most Pakistanis to shame

“Some call it Karachi's most dangerous neighbourhood, others call it Pakistan's little Brazil. These kids call it home. Either way, Lyari was fun for me,” Zand shared.

The British-Iranian not only had a chance to speak to 'probably the most impressive kids I think I may ever have met', he also played football with the sport-loving youth of Lyari.

“Played a football match with Lyari's finest, they all thought I played for Liverpool FC because of my shirt, I felt like a celebrity - it was a good day,” he said.

The picture taken by Nofil Naqvi has garnered over 1,000 likes so far and many commented appreciating Zand's effort to show the peaceful side of Pakistan.

Pakistan | 8 years ago | Reply This should put our own journalists to shame. They are so keen on showing anything that degrades the people and the land!!
