MARDAN: Eleven people – among them two policemen – received injuries on Tuesday when a homemade bomb went off in a congested neighbourhood of Mardan city, in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Some of the injured, including the policeman, were said to be in a critical condition.

Police said an improvised explosive device weighing 600g was planted by suspected militants outside a locked shop in the Toru Chowk of Khawaja Ganj Bazaar.

The bomb went off around 8am, injuring the people standing nearby. The injured were taken to the district headquarters hospital.  The injured policemen were identified as Abu Bakr and Gul Kareem. The other victims were named Bakht Jamal, Baz, Shan, Farman, Sherwali, Asad, Yahya and Zafar.
