PESHAWAR: All SHOs have been directed by SSP Operations Abbas Majeed Marwat to curb the menace of aerial firing in their respective areas. According to a statement issued on Tuesday, Marwat has said “strict action” would be taken against the relevant officers if any such incident was reported. He said “dozens” of innocent people are killed or injured every year after being hit by stray bullets. Fireworks, the display of weapons and the sale of toy guns were banned through the implementation of Section 144. “The police are determined to stop the menace of aerial firing as it is a bad way of celebrating Eid,” the statement quoted SSP as saying.
