Crippling Virus: Child infected with polio in FATA

PESHAWAR:

A child was diagnosed with polio in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, raising the total number of reported cases to 13 in Pakistan in 2016. National Institute of Health (NIH) in Islamabad confirmed the new case from Fata. Officials at NIH said 24-month-old Naseebullah, who hailed from South Waziristan Agency, was suffering from polio. They said the child had weakness, after which her stool samples were obtained and sent for laboratory tests. It was then confirmed the toddler was infected with the crippling disease.
