While most Bollywood actors -- including megastar Shah Rukh Khan -- were too shy to address Salman Khan's 'raped woman' comment, Aamir Khan has rather boldly opened up on the controversy, terming Salman's remark 'insensitive'.

At the poster launch of Dangal, Aamir was asked about Salman's comment which stirred up a hornet's nest, to which he said, "I feel.... I was not present there... (But) going by the media reports, what he has said is rather unfortunate or rather insensitive."

Here's how Salman Khan reacted when asked if he'd apologise for 'rape' remark

Asked if he spoke to his Andaaz Apna Apna co-actor or gave him any advice, Aamir said, "No I didn't speak to him... And who am I to give him advice."

Salman courted controversy after he said during a media interaction that he trained so hard for his upcoming film Sultan that when he used to walk afterwards he would feel like a "raped woman". He later said, "I don't think I should have [said that]."

Aamir Khan's transformation for Dangal proves he's a perfectionist

His comment didn't go down too well with a lot of people. The National Commission for Women (NCW) and the Shiv Sena even demanded a public apology from Salman. He sent in a letter to NCW via his lawyer but the organisation said it was not an apology.

Now Salman has been summoned by the NCW on July 8.
