PESHAWAR: A shopkeeper was killed while his cousin was critically injured, along with two other people, in a grenade attack near Custom Chowk in the city.

The area is situated within the jurisdiction of Pishtakhara police station.

According to the police, Jehanzeb and Ishfaq were at the shop when unidentified people lobbed a hand grenade into the shop.

“Ishfaq, a resident of Pishtakhara Payan, was killed while Jehanzeb was critically injured, along with passer-by Saifullah and others,” said an official of the police station told The Express Tribune.

The injured were rushed to the hospital and are in critical condition.

Further investigation into the incident is under way.

On June 30, a roadside bomb blast killed a policeman and five locals in Bashirabad situated within the jurisdiction of Faqirabad police station.

According to SSP Operations Abbas Majeed Marwat, the attack targeted one of the locals, Qari Asghar, who also came under the attack.

However, Faqirabad ASP Wasim Riaz had said it was uncertain whether the attack was over a personal enmity or not.
