HARIPUR: A girl was accidentally shot dead while a man reportedly committed suicide in separate incidents in Khanpur village of Haripur on Sunday.

A police official told The Express Tribune 15-year-old Faiza Bibi was cleaning a 12-bore licenced shotgun when the first incident occurred. “The 15-year-old accidentally pulled the trigger,” he said. “As a result, Faiza Bibi died on the spot.”

According to the official, the 15-year-old was hit in the chest by a bullet.  However, locals who knew the girl’s family suspect foul play. Many of them believed the girl did not accidentally pull the trigger and was murdered. They have pressed police officials to conduct an enquiry into Faiza Bibi’s death.

The police have registered a case and have opened investigation into the matter.

Separately, a man reportedly committed suicide in Haripur. The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Sajid. It is believed that he took the drastic step due to a series of disagreements with his family.
