KARACHI:
Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Standing Committee Chairman Ahmad Jawad has termed unjustifiable the European Union (EU) move to grade Pakistani mangoes with red and yellow cards.

Despite the best of efforts of Pakistan exporters to meet requirements of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Health and Consumer Protection, the situation was still the same, he said in a statement.

“The EU must realise that Pakistani mango is a famous fruit in its member countries due to its rich aroma and unique taste and if it imposes further strict conditions, this will affect the romance of European people with the fruit.”

He suggested that the EU may relax the requirements for Pakistani mangoes that could earn Pakistan foreign exchange through exports.
