BAHAWALPUR: Regional Police Officer Ehsan Sadiq said on Saturday that the security plan for Eid holidays had been finalised.

In a statement, the RPO said 9,622 police officials would perform the security duty.

He said 20 SPs, 71 inspectors, 290 sub inspectors, 3,262 head constables, 3,558 constables and 2,045 volunteer would provide security cover during Eid.

He said under the security plan, the district had been divided into three zones.

He said on Chand Raat, 20 SPs, 67 inspectors, 217 sub-inspectors, 2,280 head constables, 2,025 volunteers, 50 Elite Force personnel will be on security duties.

He said walkthrough gates would installed around congregation sites and people would be frisked before they were allowed to enter prayer areas. The RPO said members of peace committees should remain in contact with police stations and report any suspicious activities.

“Police has also made a plan to ensure safety at recreation spots. Policemen will be deployed around zoos and parks. Quick Response Force squads will be deployed around major government installations.”

The RPO said DSPs and SHOs should ensure ‘full attended presence’ of their teams around mosques, imambargahs and other places of worship.

The RPO said lady constables had been assigned to provide security cover to women and children.

He said pickets had been set up at major entrances to the city to check movements of suspicious elements.

He said police officials had also been deployed at graveyards to provide security to citizens visiting the graves of their loved ones.

Transport fares

Regional Transport Authority secretary Tanveer Jhandeer on Saturday constituted three teams to enforce transport fares announced by the provincial government.

In a statement, the RTA secretary said transport fares had been set at 79 paisa per kilometre.

He said owners of transport services were urged to strictly adhere to the fare.

“The lists should be placed on vehicles screens and at prominent places at all bus terminals and bus stands so that the public is aware of the scheduled fares,” he said. “Action will be taken against violators.”
