Surveillance teams arrested 18 people who were stealing electricity in the division of Swat Circle

PESHAWAR: Surveillance teams from Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) arrested 49 people and seized 85 illegal connections during raids carried out in various parts of the city on Thursday. The crackdown was conducted on the directives of Pesco Chief Executive Officer Anwarul Haq Yousafzai.

According to a handout issued by Pesco, surveillance teams arrested 18 people who were stealing electricity in the division of Swat Circle. Peshawar They also seized a direct connection that was taken illegally for a cellular network tower.

Cantonment Division Executive Engineer teams, along with Pesco police, also inspected different areas of Miskeenabad and Swati Gate and arrested 31 people from these localities. The residents who were taken into custody had used direct hooks from the main power line.

FIRs were registered against them and further investigation is under way.

“The drive against those involved in stealing electricity will continue,” the handout cited the Pesco chief as saying.
