Future strategy: ‘Population to double by 2050’

The university enrollment has increased by 50 per cent in the last three years

FAISALABAD: The country’s population will double by 2050. Providing food for them will be a key challenge for experts, policy makers and stakeholders. This was stated by University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan on Tuesday. “By 2050, the world will be in a better position to produce more food by using of technology. Adoption of Precision Agriculture and Genomics is essential to reduce the cost of production and produce more food in our country,” he said. He said that University was making efforts for addressing the problems facing the farmers. “Quality education and research is necessary to develop the agricultural sector,” he said. He said that the university had introduced 42 new degree prgrammes. “The university enrollment has increased by 50 per cent in the last three years,” he said.
