The day is observed every year on 21st of Ramazan with religious fervour and reverence amid tight security. Seminars and majalis are held and processions are organised to pay homage to Hazrat Ali.
Traffic police in Karachi have made special arrangements to ensure smooth flow of traffic. A three-day ban on pillion riding has been imposed in Karachi and other cities of Sindh as part of security arrangements as well.
Traffic plan finalised: Yaum-e-Ali procession to follow preset route
The main procession will start from Nishtar Park and commence at Husainian Iranian Imambargah, Kharadar. For the security of the procession, snipers would be deployed on rooftops along the route.
At the central gathering place, watch towers and a special control room would be set up. The bomb disposal squad would perform the technical sweeping on the occasion. Intelligence and patrolling would also be enhanced.
Karachi AIG Mushtaq Maher also issued directions to the police officials to ensure foolproof security and provide a secure atmosphere during the majalis and processions. "All activists of militant and sectarian groups and criminal elements should be kept under close surveillance," he directed.
