Sons of Mustafa Qureshi, Ghulam Mohiuddin making film debuts with Eid releases

Actors part of ‘Blind Love’ and ‘Sawal 700 Crore Dollar Ka’

LAHORE: The last time things were looking good for Pakistani cinema, many actors, directors and musicians were establishing themselves as the industry’s constants. With times changing and the tide turning altogether, there were some who began to worry about their successors in the business. Among them were Lollywood veterans Mustafa Qureshi and Ghulam Mohiuddin.

With the Maula Jutt and Amanat actors out of work, they have now prepared their offspring to take their mantle. With two of the upcoming Eid releases, Sawal 700 Crore Dollar Ka and Blind Love, sons of both the actors will make their film debuts. Both Mustafa and Ghulam are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the films are promoted and made to do well on the box office.

While Sawal 700 Crore Dollar Ka has been helmed by Jamshed Jan Muhammad, Blind Love is the brainchild of director Faisal Bukhari. The latter, a film penned by Pervaiz Kaleem, will see Mustafa’s son Imran Qureshi appear on the silver screen for the very first time.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Imran said working on the film was an experience of a lifetime. “I am essaying the role of the antagonist in the film and have given it my very best. Blind Love, in my opinion, is a beautiful film that will attract audiences and I am hopeful that people will appreciate my work.” The actor, who has previously acted in a few television serials, also added that he has recently signed a few other film projects as well.

Ali Mohiuddin on the other hand, heir to Ghulam’s legacy, will be seen in Sawaal 700 Crore Dollar Ka – the mega-budget project, shot in various locations across Thailand and Sri Lanka, starring Shamoon Abbasi, Ismail Tara and Javed Sheikh. Ghulam himself is part of the film’s cast and this is the first time the father-son duo will be making a screen appearance together. Movie-goers have high expectations from the film, which is slated to release amidst a great deal of competition alongside the latest offering from Bollywood, Salman Khan-starrer Sultan.

Speaking about the upcoming festival weekend, Ghulam said he has high hopes riding on Sawaal 700 Crore Dollar Ka. “It is going to be a super hit and a memorable addition to our film history,” he shared. “My son will be making his debut in the movie with a positive role and I hope that people will like this young talent. Ali and I both have important parts to play in the film.” He further said that he has no doubts that the film will do well, even with Sultan releasing the same day.

Blind Love producer Ejaz Kamran admitted that the competition has toughened on the box office following the import of Sultan. “Most digital cinemas in the city have opted to screen the Bollywood movie, which has come as a source of great disappointment to local film-makers. Pakistani films need to be given a chance to earn the appreciation of cinema-goers for the industry to make any progress,” he said, adding, “Cinema owners who are giving priority to Sultan are undoubtedly damaging the efforts of our producers.”
