ISLAMABAD:

Lawyers will observe a strike across the country on Friday (today) to protest against the kidnapping of Owais Ali Shah, the son of the chief justice of the Sindh High Court (SHC), the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) announced on Thursday.

Vice-Chairman of PBC Barrister Dr Farogh Naseem expressed grave concern over inaction of law enforcement agencies and urged the federal and provincial governments to safely and quickly recover Owais Ali Shah.

The PBC office-bearer appealed to lawyers throughout the country to observe a complete strike on Friday (today).

The lawyers, a PBC statement said, would not appear in any case in any court and hold protest meetings in bar rooms to condemn the kidnapping of SHC chief justice’s son.

They also urged the authorities to immediately arrest culprits involved in the crime and award them exemplary punishment.
