Promotion of nurses: Committee formed to finalise policy

The committee will also accept suggestions to divide the nurses into two cadres

PESHAWAR: The health department has formed a committee to focus service rules and service structure for nurses and finalise a policy regarding their promotion. This was stated in a notification issued by the health department on Thursday. According to the document, the coordinator of the emergency centre will lead the committee. The other members include the deputy health secretary, deputy director nursing, nursing tutor Shahida Abbasi, charge nurse Awal Khan, among others. The committee members will examine the existing service rules and service structure of nursing as per the Terms of Reference inscribed in notification and will devise a clear policy for promotions. The committee will also accept suggestions to divide the nurses into two cadres – clinical and technical – and will submit its report within 40 days.
