PESHAWAR: A man who was involved in assisting a convict in preparing bogus evidence in the weapons scam case was arrested by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

A NAB official told The Express Tribune on Wednesday that accused Habib Said was apprehended for his involvement in aiding a convict Akhtar Muhammad. He added the accused fabricated and backdated evidence to hide assets of Akhtar in the case.

The official said during the course of enquiry it was revealed that Said fabricated a number of back dated stamp papers and sale agreements in connivance with convict Akhtar and his son to show that Akhtar received money after he had sold an expensive flat in Islamabad to Said. He added the accused also filed a suit transfer of property in his name and succeeded in obtaining the decree in his favour. However, the ownership was still maintained by Akhtar.
