A ceremony, in this regard, was held on the campus, to formally announce the commencement of the golden jubilee of the QAU.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairperson, Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, while addressing the ceremony, congratulated the QAU for entering the 50th year of its formation.
He highlighted the university’s achievement in producing generations of scientists, civil servants, academics and journalists.
The QAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr Javed Ashraf, said that this milestone was a cause for immense pride for the university faculty, staff, students and alumni, and also an occasion to renew collective commitment to the pursuit of excellence.
He listed the numerous steps taken to raise the standard of research of the university.
Academic Staff Association President Dr Asif Ali highlighted the role of the QAU faculty, in the historical journey of the university.
He stressed that autonomy of the higher education institutes, and academic freedom was crucial, in order to achieve the goal of academic excellence.
Earlier, 50 Years of QAU Committee Chairperson Dr Farhan Saif briefed the audience on the historical background and achievements of the university.
He said that the 50th anniversary would be a year of events and activities to celebrate the milestones achieved in the past, and to highlight the strengths of the present.
“This is an excellent opportunity to commemorate the overall achievements of the past 50 years,” he said.
A large number of faculty, staff, students and alumni attended the ceremony.
