Police constable gunned down in Peshawar

The official was on his way home when armed assailants targeted him

PESHAWAR: Unidentified gunmen killed on Sunday a police constable in the Garhi Sobat Khan area of Peshawar.

The policeman, identified as Gulzar, was deployed at Khazana police station and was on his way home when armed assailants targeted him.

He was an ex-serviceman hired by police on contract following his retirement.

Talking to The Express Tribune, a police official confirmed constable Gulzar had been shot, who later succumbed to his injuries at the Lady Reading Hospital.

This is second attack during the month of Ramazan as on June 16, Sub-Inspector Qayum Dad was also killed in a road-side bomb blast that targeted a police vehicle.
