Enhancing capacity: New academy for Prisons Dept
The IG prisons said 460 officers and 8,838 employees had been trained under the programme

Inspector General of Prisons Mian Farooq Nazir said on Sunday that a training programme had been arranged for jail officials of six incarceration facilities. Talking to APP, he said there was a dearth of training opportunities for junior officials. He said that a policy had been made for training of officials at various institutions. He said the Punjab Prisons Staff Training Institute was being equipped with modern facilities. He said the provincial government had also allocated funds for a new training academy. He said land had also been provided for the academy. The IG prisons said 460 officers and 8,838 employees had been trained under the programme. He said 238 officials were under training.
