Domestic violence: Three arrested for beating up woman  

The victim’s stepmother, her husband and his brother had beaten up the victim at their house

BAHAWALPUR: A man and a woman were arrested on Saturday in connection with a case of domestic violence. Uch Sharif police said the victim’s stepmother, her brother-in-law and her husband were accused of mentally torturing her and beating her up. They said the RPO had taken notice of the incident after hearing about it on a local TV channel. Contrary to media’s claims that a panchayat had ordered for the woman’s face to be blackened, her hair cut, and be dragged in the streets, police said this was case of domestic violence. The victim’s stepmother, her husband and his brother had beaten up the victim at their house. Uch Sharif police said they had been arrested and were being interrogated. The RPO has told Uch Sharif police to expedite the investigation.
