Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri presented on Sunday the provincial budget of over Rs289 billion for the fiscal year 2016-17.

The deficit amounted to Rs36 billion in the presented budget while revenues worth over Rs252 billion will be collected during the 2016-17 financial year, the chief minister told lawmakers in the provincial assembly in Quetta, Radio Pakistan reported.

Rs218 billion have been allocated for non-development expenditures, whereas Rs71 billion have been earmarked for development projects.

Rs50 million have been allocated to provide outstanding higher education students with laptops.


To solve the drinking water woes, Zehri said Rs10 billion have been allocated for the provision of water to Quetta city.

Meanwhile, for agriculture, Rs7.4 billion will be provided in the new budget, said the chief minister.
