RAWALPINDI: Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is taking keen interest for the promotion of sports, for which Rs2 million have been allocated for the construction of an international standard cricket playground, gymkhana, swimming pool and hockey stadium at Rawal Road.

Addressing the fist Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Rawalpindi Inter UC’s Floodlight tournament, Chairman Metro Project Hanif Abbasi said sports are essential for the physical and mental health of the youth and no one can deny its importance.

“The incumbent government is spending billions of rupees in education and health sectors and a number of mega projects have been completed within a short time,” he said.

He further added that Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) has been completed which is capable of carrying out all kinds of surgeries and catering to the needs of the poor.

Moreover, a state-of-the-art hospital for urology would also be completed by June next year.
