Office-bearers’ retirement: ECP postpones LG by-polls
ECP issued a schedule for the fourth LG by-polls to fill in vacant general seats
PESHAWAR:
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has postponed local government by-elections scheduled for July 18 in various districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The action was taken in light of the retirement of ECP office-bearers. Previously, ECP issued a schedule for the fourth LG by-polls to fill in vacant general seats in territorial wards of district and town councils as well as different categories of neighbourhood/village councils. The by-elections were scheduled for July 18 in Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, DI Khan, Tank, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Upper Dir and Lower Dir. ECP K-P Spokesperson Sohail Ahmad told The Express Tribune the LG by-elections were postponed due to the retirement of ECP officials. He said the next schedule would be announced later after the completion of new appointments.
