However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, director Steven Spielberg finally broke his silence to reveal that the hero will make it out alive for sure.
“The one thing I will tell you is I’m not killing off Harrison at the end of it,” said Spielberg, without divulging any further details regarding the movie, which is expected to hit screens on July 19, 2019.
To the relief of many, the archeologist, fondly referred to as ‘Indy’ will make it, perhaps to the next movie, in one piece. Fans feared they might see the end of the hero in the fifth movie as another one of Ford’s famous fictional characters, Han Solo, died in the latest Star Wars movie. While Solo is expected to make a comeback in the upcoming addition to the sci-fi franchise, some other actor will be essaying the role.
Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg to return with 'Indian Jones 5'
However, based on Spielberg’s recent revelations, ardent Indiana Jones fans will be spared of any such shenanigans. “I think this one is straight down the pike for the fans,” said the director.
Ford, on the other hand, is all set to rock his famous fedora and leather jacket once again for the role. During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the actor expressed his excitement for the upcoming movie. “I am thoroughly excited,” he said. “The opportunity to work with Steven again, and the chance to revisit this character which has brought pleasure to so many people — not to mention me. It’s great fun to play this character and its great fun to work with Steven. I’m looking forward to it.”
