Police to release prime suspect's wife in Halima murder case today

According to investigation officer, evidence of murder against Rizwan Khan's wife was not found

Police on Thursday said they will today release Sonia who had been held in connection with the murder of a woman and subsequent finding of her son at a welfare centre.

Halima was found dead in her flat in Delhi Colony on May 31 while her four-year-old son, Abdullah, was left at Edhi Centre by a man, Rizwan Ayaz Khan, five days before that. He had claimed that the child was found ‘abandoned’ near Do Darya.

Prime suspect’s wife remanded into judicial custody

Sonia, Khan's wife was arrested on June 2 as the prime suspect disappeared following the murder.

During the hearing, the investigation officer informed the City court they did not find evidence of murder against Sonia, Khan’s wife.

The officer added that Sonia will be released today under the Act 497 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the law.

On June 10, a judicial magistrate remanded Sonia into judicial custody for four days to proceed with the case.

Earlier on June 8, police succeeded in arresting Rizwan Khan who was on the run since the murder.

According to police, Sonia's family informed them about the missing woman on June 5.

Halima's son, Abdullah became the centre of attention in the case as the identity of his father could not be confirmed despite claims from at least one party in this regard.
