The front condemned the survey carried out on the Thakot-Havelian route and warned the provincial government to step down otherwise the organisation would wage war against the PTI-led regime in K-P. “This will be the last fight and we will not hesitate to face anyone,” Corridor Front Chairperson Dr Said Alam Mehsud told the media at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday. He said once Thakot-Havelian route was finalised, there will be no way out.
Mehsud added the federal government launched a survey to purchase land for Thakot-Havelian route, but the front’s stance was clear. It felt the federal government was depriving smaller provinces of their rights. “Some political party leaders have been supporting the prime minister despite knowing the injustice being done with smaller provinces,” he said. The chairman asserted a single province would not be allowed to benefit from CPEC.
He also pointed to international laws of cutting trees for mega projects. “You are supposed to plant trees once you cut them for any project,” He questioned the policy of the federal government towards the corridor’s impact on the environment. Mehsud stated that the federal government must construct roads in Torghar and Kohistan besides linking Malakand to Bishma-Mingora Highway as part of steps to attract tourists to Hazara and Malakand.
