Army chief should ensure justice for Model Town victims: Tahirul Qadri

Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on Wednesday urged army chief General Raheel Sharif to ensure justice for Model Town victims.

"The army chief who has broken the backbone of militants, should ensure justice for the innocent people killed in Model Town clashes," the PAT chief said upon returning to Pakistan.

Fourteen people were killed and dozens others injured in clashes between Qadri's workers and police in Lahore's Model Town.

Qadri said all leaders responsible for the bloodshed in Model Town will meet their fate.

"What happened in Model Town in 2014 was state terrorism."

Blaming the government for being involved the Model Town firing, the PAT chief announced a 'grand protest' at Lahore's Mall Road on June 17.

"It will be a protest as well as a sit in and I invite all political parties to join PAT on June 17 to raise their voice against the inability of the government to serve justice," he added.

"It has been two years since the incident, yet the JIT report has not been presented," added Qadri.

Nessar | 8 years ago | Reply @Adnan Siddiqui He is not a pickpocketer but a learned man. He is certainly not worse than the leaders who have looted millions from the poor Pakistani people. However even if his actions were wrong that does not justify shooting 100 people and killing women. Did you not witness the police brutality on TV. .or maybe you don't care as none of those individuals were your family members.

These fellows comfortably living in foreign countries and visit at their leisure to provoke the people and leave after creating a mess. People should be careful about this type once in blue moon leaders.

Nessar | 8 years ago | Reply I am disappointed with the negative comments towards Dr Qadri and it highlights the slave mentality of the Pakistani people. What happened in Model Town was atrocious. These were our fellow countrymen and deserve justice. This is what Dr Qadri is asking for. Imagine if one of those injured or killed was your father, mother, brother, sister son, daughter etc.....then what would you still disagree with Dr Qadri?

We must accept the fact that to save an ailing body we must do whatever it takes, we must swallow the pills even if bitter ones to cure us from the parasitic disease, the parasites Nawaz and his family.
