Asif has struggled to reach the same heights that made him win the individual IBSF world championship, the world team title and the Asian 6-Red tournament.
Snooker: Knockout line-up completed
Although he progressed to the knockout stages of some of the last few international tournaments, he has been unable to fight for the title or even reach the semi-finals in recent times.
“The PBSA is not happy with Asif’s quarter-final losses because he is a much better player,” a PBSA official told The Express Tribune. “We had dropped Mohammad Sajjad from our international tournaments’ squad for the same reason. We believe the snub will make Asif quickly realise that only good results will keep anyone in Pakistan squads.”
Snooker: Sajjad off to winning start
In the most recent events, Asif was knocked out in the last-eight stage of the 2016 Asian 6-Red Championship, while he and Asjad Iqbal lost the semi-final of the Asian Team Championship.
