“K-P’s electricity quota is 2,700 megawatts, but it is provided 1,700MW,” Ahmad said while speaking to journalists at Markaz-e-Islami on Sunday. He added K-P is producing three times more electricity than its requirements, but even then the province was subjected to massive load-shedding.
He said according to the Constitution, the province had first rights over its resources. Therefore, K-P should be provided the allocated quota to prevent load-shedding. He also criticised the government for carrying out load-shedding during Iftar and Sehr. He said people had been protesting against power outages, but authorities turned a blind eye to these concerns.
“The federal government has to stop its discriminatory treatment,” the JI ameer stressed.
