Asked what he felt about Big B’s statement, Irrfan said, “I don’t want to react to that. If he is saying so then there is some truth to it. Deepika is the biggest star and she was the diamond in the whole montage of actors and I am glad he acknowledged her work.”
These days Irrfan is busy promoting his film Madaari and says the definition of commercial cinema should be broadened. “We are trying to redefine commercial cinema and its definition should be broadened,” he added.

The Jazbaa actor stated he is surprised that when a film addresses a social evil that has been present for several years, it suddenly translates into a big issue and there is a public outcry over it. “My problem is with the fact that we don’t even know if it is a censor board or a certificate board. The whole country has become a censor board in such a way that if some issue is raised someone makes an issue out of it,” Irrfan said at the launch of the song Dama Dam from Madaari.
The controversy surrounding film Udta Punjab and its troubles with the censor board have dominated headlines in the past few days. The problem of drugs and the use of the name of the Indian state of Punjab in relation to drugs have raised eyebrows with Indian censors. “These are all rules made by the British and the blame should not fall on any individual.
