MINGORA: The counter-terrorism department apprehended a key militant commander during successful action in Khawaja Abad, a suburban area of Mingora city on Friday. CTD and other law-enforcement agencies received a tip-off, following which they arrested Noor Muhammad. He was shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. “Noor Muhammad was involved in anti-state activities and was wanted by law-enforcement agencies,” a CTD spokesperson told the media. “Two separate FIRs were filed against him – one for killing three policemen in Gharai, Charbagh and another for attacking the Mingora police station during the insurgency.” Security forces have tightened security in Swat district due to increasing attacks on village defence committee members and other guards. The forces have been put on high alert and both people and vehicles are being thoroughly checked at check posts before being allowed to enter Swat district.
