A robbery suspect was killed in an ‘encounter’ with a CIA police team near Chak 62-JB, in a Sandal Bar police precinct, late at night on Wednesday, police said. Two of his accomplices had fled, they said.
A police spokesperson said that three robbers were holding up people near Chak 62-JB, Channan Kay, when a CIA police team, headed by Inspector Abdul Hameed, chanced upon them during patrolling. Upon seeing the police, the robbers shot at them. He said the police had returned fire in self-defence. One of the robbers was badly hit and died on the spot.
