Young Pakistan all-rounder Aamer Yamin has said he wants to become Pakistan’s best all-rounder in the future.

“I have a goal of becoming Pakistan’s best all-rounder in the future,” said Yamin while speaking to Pak Passion. “I know that I need to continue to perform to the best of my abilities.”

The 25-year-old, who debuted in the series against Zimbabwe last year, went on to say that he is not disappointed by chief selector Inzamaul Haq’s decision to not include him in the upcoming Pakistan A tour of England, and vowed to work hard and come back stronger. “I completely understand the decision [of the selection committee] as a professional, so there wasn’t anything to be disappointed about,” he said.

“The selectors have a tough job and they do it well. What I need to do is to perform well going forward and work my way back into the team. I’m working on my technique and my fitness so that when I get another opportunity I’m ready for it.”

The Peshawar Zalmi all-rounder, who picked a wicket on his first delivery in a T20 international, also said he ranks his bowling as his strength. “I do enjoy bowling more than batting,” he added. “I started primarily as a batsman at U-19 level, but then started fast bowling in 2008."

“Given I’ve scored most of my First-Class runs batting at number eight position, my bowling is probably considered the stronger one.”

The Multan born all-rounder also revealed his idols and role models, most of whom were part of the team who went on to play in the ICC World Cup 1999 final. “I had a few role models,” he said. “They  were largely out of the 1999 World Cup side that reached the final; so the likes of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Inzamamul Haq and Shahid Afridi were people I looked up to.”

Zee | 7 years ago | Reply Already too many of wannabe All Rounders, half the team bills itself as all rounders just so that they can continue to hog a place in the team on one pretext or the other. We need specialists in every department. Specialist openers, specialist one down and middle order, specialist pacers. Today our batting lineup is suffering only because of this reason. Except for Misbah & Younus, there aren't any specialist batsmen in our armory.
