Not following orders: Contempt notice issued to PIPOS authorities

PESHAWAR: A division bench of the PHC issued a contempt of court notice on Tuesday to Pakistan Institute of Prosthetic and Orthotic Sciences Hayatabad Board of Management chairperson and director for failure to comply with its orders.

The bench of justices Nisar Hussain and Musarrat Hilali was hearing a petition filed by Rifaqat Afridi. It was told through Afridi’s counsel, Fazal Shah Mohmand, the respondents were directed to allow the petitioner to participate in recruitment for advertised posts.

Mohmand said the respondents failed to comply. He said posts of prosthetist and orthotist were advertised on April 1 and the last date to apply was April 15. The petitioner also applied for a position, but the management changed eligibility conditions a week after the last date through a corrigendum. The petitioner challenged the corrigendum and requested the court to declare it illegal. He said a division bench of PHC directed PIPOS authorities to allow the petitioner to participate in recruitment for the said posts.
