Mohmand rattled: One dead, two injured in explosion

SHABQADAR: A person died and two others were injured when an improvised explosive device went off on Tuesday morning near Ziarat Marble Mines in Mohmand Agency. Political administration officials of Upper Mohmand Agency told The Express Tribune the IED was planted alongside some mines. They said it went off when mine workers passed through the area. Subsequently, a labourer, Amjad Khan, died on the spot and two other workers, Siraj and Ibrahim, were injured. They were taken to the hospital in the agency. After the explosion, security forces started a search operation in the area to arrest the culprits. During the search, another IED was found, but was defused by bomb disposal unit personnel. No one was arrested till this report was filed. A few days back, Mohmand Rifles Commandant Asif Iqbal threatened tribes people they would be arrested if such attacks took place in the agency.
