Overcharging: Political agent warns shopkeepers of action

JAMRUD: The political agent of Khyber Agency issued strict warnings to shop owners to control prices of food items in Jamrud or strict action would be taken against those overcharging customers.

Political Agent Khalid Mehmood and price control committee members paid a surprise visit to markets and shops on the first day of Ramazan to ensure food items were sold according to the official price list issued by authorities in Jamrud.

On the occasion, he issued instructions to the political tehsildar and members of price control committee to help the people and ensure provision of fruits, vegetables, meat and other food items at reasonable rates.

He also ordered the khasadar forces to arrange Iftar for travellers during Ramazan. Mehmood said negligence in this regard will not be tolerated and shopkeepers found overcharging customers will be taken to task.
