New Provinces: Palijo opposes MQM demand for division of Sindh
There is a need to further consolidate relation of Sindhis with the Urdu community to fail such conspiracies
HYDERABAD:
Nationalist leader Ayaz Latif Palijo has condemned the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) renewed demand for the division of Sindh, alleging that the party continues to work on RAW’s agenda to destabilise Pakistan.
In a press statement issued on Monday, Palijo quoted MQM leader MNA Khalid Maqbool Siddiqi as saying that, “If we can liberate the country [from colonial occupation], we can also take away this freedom.”
Palijo, president of Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT), further criticised the Pakistan Peoples Party and other nationalist parties for not reacting to this renewed threat of dividing Sindh along ethnic lines.
“The people of Sindh should avoid reacting to this demand in a way that creates ethnic fissures. There is a need to further consolidate relation of Sindhis with the Urdu community to fail such conspiracies,” he stated.
According to Palijo, the MQM leaders reiterated the threat during a protest demonstration outside the Chief Minister House in Karachi.
He added that besides Siddiqi, other officials such as Farooq Sattar, Wasim Akhtar and Aijazul Hassan have also warned of carving a new province out of Sindh.
