‘Psychological issues’: Man stabs family, inflicts critical wounds

PESHAWAR: A man stabbed five members of his family with daggers, leaving them critically injured in Malik Pura area within the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station on Monday.

A police official told The Express Tribune 24-year-old Arsalan woke up at around 3am on Monday and got hold of two daggers as other family members slept. He added the accused went into the room and stabbed his father Fazal Hussain, his mother, his sister Mehak Bibi and his two brothers Faizan and Mubashar.

As a result, all five people were critically injured and rushed to Lady Reading Hospital for treatment.

The official maintained, “He stabbed his family members in the abdomen leaving them critically injured.” He added Arsalan was also injured when his two brothers tried to overpower him and snatch the daggers.

The injured called Rescue 1122 who shifted them and the accused to the hospital.  The police official stated Arsalan was arrested by the police immediately and taken into custody.

He said when the police asked about the reason for this action, Arsalan said he was fed up with his life and wanted to kill all his family members.

However, the police suspected the man had some psychological problems and those led him to take such an extreme step. Meanwhile, an FIR was registered against the suspect under section 324 of the PPC.
