ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Museum of Natural History, established in 1976, is an attractive destination for nature lovers of the capital.

An educational and recreational facility for students and youngsters, various species of animals, birds and plants of different regions have been gathered here for research work.

From salt range and ocean life to gem stones, the museum displays minerals, rocks and fossils, including pre-historic wildlife of Pakistan. A huge skeleton of a whale and a model of a dinosaur is the most eyecatching display of the museum that brings students to the galleries.

Moreover, there are more than 30 scientists and designers who are engaged in research work primarily on the biodiversity of Pakistan, with special reference to environment and natural habitat degradation.

A Virtual Orientation Gallery project is the latest addition to the display centre of the museum which focuses on national priorities in terms of conservation strategies of the biodiversity of Pakistan.
