Disaster Averted: BDU defuses bomb near Ring Road 

The device was spotted by locals who immediately informed the police and BDU officials

PESHAWAR:  

A remote-controlled explosive device was defused by Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) near Ring Road within the jurisdiction of Sarband police station in the city on Saturday. The device weighed four kilogrammes. A police official told The Express Tribune the suspect was arrested from the site and shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. The device was spotted by locals who immediately informed the police and BDU officials. According to the official, the device had been planted by a roadside near Achini Chowk. It is believed it was an attempt to target the police. Futher investigation is under way. Last month three militants died after the explosives they carried went off prematurely.
