Open for service: 19 Ramazan bazaars become functional

The DCO checked the quality and prices of fruits and vegetables at the bazaars

As many as 19 Ramazan Bazaars became functional in Faisalabad on Friday to provide items for daily use on subsidised rates to consumers.

DCO Salman Ghani inspected the arrangements. Talking to newsmen, the DCO said Ramazan Bazaars had been established on Jhang Road, Noorul Amin Colony on Millat Road, Riaz Shahid Chowk Islam Nagar, Millat Road near Star Petroleum and CNG, Factory Area, Sir Syed Town, Akbar Chowk, Gulistan Colony, Faizan-i-Madina Chowk, Fawara Chowk, Sumundri Road, Iron Market, Kaleem Shaheed Park, Adda Saddar on Jhang Road, Jinnah Colony, Chak Jhumra, Mamu Kanjan Tandlianwala, and Jaranwala Road.

The DCO checked the quality and prices of fruits and vegetables at the bazaars and directed the Ramazan Bazaar staff to ensure display of price lists at each stand. The DCO said hygiene at the bazaars should be maintained. He said sanitation staff should be on duty at all times. The DCO also checked security arrangements. He reviewed the CCTV footage and directed the police to evolve a traffic management plan.

Saeed A Rana | 8 years ago | Reply Public appreciates the steps taken by Govt to establish the Ramadan Bazaars in Punjab. Where people can get cheaper products of their daily use. I would like to mention the misuse of this provision by Govt authorities. Govt hires the facilities like chairs, tents from different vendors which are over billed and cost in millions instead of thousands. secondly Govt pays to the shopkeepers who sell their products at cheaper rates, authorities also overpay this rebate in bills which amounts in millions. some times Govt supplies cheaper sugar, Dals, which is sold in open market by these authorities and they earn millions out of this. there is a chain of corruption in Ramdan Bazaars and no one is to stop it. I remember 2013 Ramdan Bazaar where Govt supplied trucks of cheaper sugar, it was sold to open market and TMOs, and higher authorities earned millions of Rupees. I see no strict measurements are taken in controlling this corruption, I suggest Govt must form a local body from public who should monitor any irregularity, so the people may get the maximum benefit of it.
