According to FIA officials, Sher Ali, a retired deputy superintendent of DC office Killa Abdullah, was arrested from his home in Khanozai area of the Pishin district late on Wednesday night. The certificate was the first Pakistani nationality document issued to the Taliban chief in 1999. Once he had the local certificate, Mansoor under the name of Wali Muhammad, was able to apply for CNIC and later on the passport.
“We have initiated an investigation into the issuance of the certificate,” an FIA official said. Around four government officials have been arrested for issuing the CNIC, passport and local certificate to Mullah Mansoor.
The ex-deputy commissioner of the Pishin district, Hafeez Tahir, is also under investigation by FIA authorities.
