Zaka requested the court to restrain the government on these accounts

LAHORE: Lahore High Court on Wednesday counselled Leader of the Opposition in the Provincial Assembly (PA) Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed to take to the floor of the House to highlight the government’s incompetence.

Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza made the remarks while hearing Rasheed’s petition on alleged irregularities in the construction of the Bab-i-Pakistan monument on Walton Road. He said it appeared that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader preferred filing anti-government petitions in place of essaying his due role in the PA. The counsel for the petitioner Sheraz Zaka said the government had initiated work on the project in 1991. He said it was yet to be completed. Zaka said the government had recently changed the project’s contractor and tweaked its master plan. Zaka requested the court to restrain the government on these accounts.
