Escape attempt: Rape suspect killed in encounter
Police said the accomplices had managed to flee but Munir was shot and killed in the encounter

Police said on Thursday that a man accused of raping 11 minors was killed in an encounter near Gailaywal, Lodhran district, on Thursday.
Saddar police said they were taking Munir, son of Gul Sher, to 12 MP-R, Gailaywal, Lodhran district, when three of his accomplices on motorcycles stopped the police vehicle and shot at it. Police said they were trying to help Munir flee.
Police said the accomplices had managed to flee but Munir was shot and killed in the encounter. Police said the body was taken to the Lodhran District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination.
According to the police, Munir died on the spot from a bullet fired by one of his accomplices. They said Munir had been accused of raping several girls in Gailaywal, Lodhran and Duniyapur. Police said that he had confessed to the crimes and his case was under investigation.
Police said two of the rape victims had identified the body at the hospital. Police said they had formed a team to arrest Munir’s accomplices as well.
