PESHAWAR: A book fair was organised at University of Engineering and Technology in the city on Wednesday.

According to press release, at least 5,000 books were put on display at various stalls.  Speaking on the occasion, UET Dean for Engineering Dr Noor Muhammad said the initiative provided a platform to strengthen interaction between students and academics.

“[The book fair] served to remind students about the importance of reading,” the statement quoted the dean as saying. “Students cannot access the internet at all times due to frequent power failure and limited resources.”

According to Noor, reading books will help students rely on other resources apart from the internet. He emphasised the need to hold such events on a regular basis. The dean said schools must play a role in promoting this habit, especially in a competitive environment.
