SUKKUR: A Sukkur SSP suspended on Wednesday the Kandhra police station SHO on charges of attacking a police team, which was taking action against persons involved in ‘akra parchi’, an illegal prize bond system, late on Tuesday.

SSP Amjad Ahmed Shaikh has also ordered an inquiry against the official.

The Sukkur police are currently engaged in action against social evils and, as a part of this operation, a police team raided Kandhra town on Tuesday night and started arresting persons involved in the illegal business of akra parchi, which causes people to lose millions of rupees every fortnight.

While the police team was busy in taking action against the akra parchi dealers, Kandhra SHO Ilyas Odho rushed to the scene along with his team and attacked the police team to stop them from taking action against the dealers. When SSP Shaikh learnt of the incident he immediately suspended the SHO and ordered the Rohri DSP to conduct an inquiry into the matter.
