Fake encounter: Court orders FIR against 17 cops

Additional District and Sessions Judge Ahmad Mujahid Sherdil on Wednesday ordered the police to register an FIR against 17 policemen accused of staging a fake police encounter.

Court officials said complainant Rubina, a resident of Matela, Kot Momin, had filed a petition saying that her relative Aziz Abbas had been sent to prison in Sargodha District Jail on robbery charges. She said that CIA Staff in charge Matta Nathoka had taken Abbas to a Jhal Chakian police precinct on the pretext of recovering the stolen items.  There, she said, they had shot him dead.

Rubina had nominated Nathoka, Jhal Chakian SHO Farooq Hasnat, Sultan Jhoobra and 14 others policemen in her petition. Additional District and Sessions Judge Ahmad Mujahid Sherdil  ruled in Rubina’s favour and ordered the registration of an FIR against the policemen.
